The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee hosted an Iftar Reception today (August 17, 2012) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Dignitaries who attended the Iftar include the Vice-President, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Chairman of UPA, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, senior BJP leader, Shri L. K. Advani, Cabinet Ministers Shri Sharad Pawar, Shri Pawan Bansal, Shri Vayalar Ravi, CPM Polit Bureau member Shri Sitaram Yechuri, Members of Parliament, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, senior officials, scholars, religious leaders and public figures from various walks of life.

The President mingled with the guests and exchanged Ramadan greetings with all invitees before inviting them to break their fast, offer prayers and then join for dinner.
